Welcome to Rack Room Shoes! Whether you’re joining one of our vibrant retail locations or becoming part of our growing corporate or support teams, we’re thrilled to have you on board. At Rack Room Shoes, we believe that a strong start sets the foundation for long-term success and that begins with a thoughtful, structured, and empowering onboarding experience.
What to Expect in Your First Steps
Our onboarding journey is more than paperwork and policies, it’s your personalized roadmap to becoming a confident and connected member of the Rack Room family.
1. Pre-boarding: Setting the Stage Before Day One
Before your official start, you’ll receive a digital welcome packet with:
Offer letter and compliance forms
Employee handbook and code of conduct
Welcome video from our executive leadership
First-week agenda and dress code guidelines
This early engagement helps you hit the ground running and ensures all legal and operational boxes are checked prior to Day 1.
2. Day One: A Warm Welcome
Your first day is about orientation and connection. You'll:
Meet your team and direct supervisor
Receive a store tour or department overview
Get hands-on access to your tools (POS, back office systems, Zendesk, etc.)
Be introduced to Rack Room’s culture, values, and mission
New store associates will be paired with a Training Partner, a seasoned team member who will mentor you through your first few weeks.
Tools & Systems: Empowering You from the Start
To support both customer satisfaction and team efficiency, every new hire gains access to our key platforms:
Zendesk: Our central customer care and operations platform. You’ll learn how to manage tickets, escalate product issues, and handle returns or loyalty inquiries.
Learning Management System (LMS): Complete compliance training, customer service best practices, and leadership development modules at your pace.
Scheduling & HR Portals: Manage time-off requests, review your paystubs, and access policies through our self-service HR tools.
Onboarding Timeline: Your First 90 Days
Timeframe | Focus Areas |
---|---|
Week 1 | Orientation, systems access, job shadowing, product overview |
Week 2–4 | Skill-building, POS or Zendesk training, customer service role-play |
Month 2 | Performance check-in, continued learning, team integration |
Month 3 | Feedback session, goal setting, introduction to growth pathways |
Your manager and HR representative will guide you through key milestones, ensuring you're supported every step of the way.

Workplace safety and emergency procedures
Anti-harassment and non-discrimination policies
Wage and hour compliance
Customer data handling and privacy (especially relevant for Zendesk users)
These standards uphold our commitment to an inclusive, safe, and legally sound workplace for all.
